Welcome back to another DLP blog post. This post will explain all about the Compass Club, its benefits and why I recommend it…so lets go!
We have just returned from a holiday at DLP and we were lucky enough to stay at the Newport Bay Resort for a second year. We also booked to stay as a Compass Club Guest at the resort again for a second time, and i definately recommend booking the Compass Club if you are able to.
Firstly the Newport Bay Resort Hotel is stunning and in the past we have opted to stay at Sequoia Lodge but last year we wanted to stay somewhere new so Newport Bay it was.

What the Compass Club has to offer that a standard room does not
When booking a Compass Club room you have, in addition to the usual benefits, your own separate checking in desk where you are greeted & seated in a luxurious room and have a more personal 1 to 1 check in with a cast member making it a more comfortable and relaxed experience. This does get busy sometimes at arrival times, which we experienced in 2018 when we went. However, another benefit of booking a Compass Club room is that you have access to the Compass Club Lounge and this is where we were allowed to wait to check-in in 2018 which made the experience more relaxing. However, this year(2019) it was a very smooth and enjoyable process, and we got to chat with the cast members who made us feel really welcome.

The Compass Club Lounge is accessible to only Compass Club guests and is accessible anytime until 10pm. It has access to refreshments such as soft drinks orange juice and water or tea and coffee free of charge. This is also where you can have you breakfast in the morning, and between the time of 4-6pm they serve up some teatime treats such as small sandwiches and beautiful sweet treats and desserts to help yourself which is also free of charge. HEAVEN!… We really made use of the lounge this year, to chill out and have a break, and the staff are really welcoming and great with the children. Ideal for a chill time or if the rain has set in for the afternoon like it did for us this year!
The breakfast served in the Compass Club lounge is American Buffet style. We did this most mornings, there were plenty of options for all tastes and ages, and even though it looked busy it was very well organized, managed and always replenished frequently.

Another benefit of the Compass Club is the concierge service. After we checked in we could take the bags we wanted with us to the parks and leave the rest such as the cases and kids bags to be taken to the room ready for us. No need to drag the cases to the room before venturing out, this service allows you to head on out and explore the parks and village while your luggage has been taken care of. AWESOME!
When booking the Compass Club every person within your party is allocated 1 Fastpass/per person/ per day to use in any park at anytime. Very handy to have if there is that 1 ride you want to go on, this will ensure you get on that 1 attraction you’ve been waiting for, and if there is someone in the party who isn’t too keen on rides or rollercoasters someone else in the party can use their fastpass instead.
GOOD TO KNOW: These fast passes are dated and if you don’t use them on the days stated on them they run out. So make sure if someone in your party isn’t able to go on an attraction or you have a ticket left over, make good use of it because you won’t be able to use it on another day.
In the room it is pretty much the same layout as a standard room with the added extra of a tea/coffee maker. Which we used a few times during a break in the day when it was raining/in the evening.
Lastly is that Compass Club guests have their own floor in the resort hotel. When you go to your room all the rooms on that floor are Compass Club guests only, not really a perk but gives you a rough idea how many guests are Compass Club..pretty cool!
TIP: If you didn’t want to stay in the Newport Bay and were looking to stay in either the Sequoia Lodge or the Disneyland Hotel, these 2 also have the equivalent of the Compass Club in their resorts. In the Sequoia Lodge the equivalent is called “The Golden Forest Club” and in the Disneyland Hotel it is called “The Castle Club”. Take a look its worth investigating as an option before booking. Sometimes there isn’t much difference between prices.
If you are booking a holiday to DLP and are looking to book the Compass Club please leave comments below or let me know of your experiences with the Compass Club we would love to hear all about them and possibly learn something new we could try next time when booking…until next time…thanks for reading.
